Community/Events
Throughout the season, there are a variety of ways to become a part of the Common Thread community. We welcome both members and non-members to attend events and explore the space of the farm. Here are a few ways the Common Thread community has come together so far.
Community Events on the Farm
While our members enjoy the food in their share throughout the season with their friends and families, we like to get everyone together a few times each season to enjoy the bounty together as a larger Common Thread Community. We cross our fingers for sunny weekend weather to enjoy pizza parties and outdoor movie nights on the farm. One of our favorite traditions each fall is coming together to celebrate the end of the season with a potluck harvest dinner. Stay tuned to the website and the newsletter for specific dates of community events.
Food Cupboard Connection
We are proud to be able to support the local Hamilton Food Cupboard by providing fresh local produce to families who may not otherwise be able to access it. Members who are out of town or unable to pick up their share at any point in the season have the option of donating their share to the food cupboard.
We are currently in the process of reaching out to other local food cupboards. If you are affiliated with a food cupboard and are interested in receiving produce from Common Thread, please contact us.
School Farm Visits
Common Thread has become a popular educational destination for students of all ages! So far, we have had visits from local kindergarteners stopping by to help us pick carrots, summer Sports and Science campers from all over Central New York and New York City, as well as Colgate students participating in college orientation programs through Outdoor Education and the Center for Outreach Volunteerism and Education (the COVE).
If you are interested in bringing students of any age out to the farm to learn about and participate in local agriculture, please contact us.
